From its beginning in Indiana in 1992, the William E. Schmidt Foundation has sought to find and nurture high school singers through the Schmidt Youth Vocal Competition. Inspired by his sister, Indianapolis vocalist-teacher Anna Lee Schmidt Hamilton, Mr. Schmidt and his wife have a passionate interest in the program. Presently, the competitions are expanding to several states, with the goal of becoming a nation-wide experience.
